Dual Voice Coil Subwoofer Wiring Guides

Skar Audio is happy to provide wiring guides for various coil configurations. These diagrams help you properly wire your dual voice coil subwoofers to achieve the desired impedance load for your amplifier.

Dual 1 Ohm Subwoofers

• 1 Subwoofer - Can be wired to 2 ohms or 0.5 ohms
• 2 Subwoofers - Standard balanced series/parallel wiring using all four 1-ohm coils gives 0.25 ohms (all parallel), 1 ohm (series/parallel), or 4 ohms (all series). Downloadable diagrams below cover 1 and 4 ohms. The diagram library is not exhaustive; do not operate below 1 ohm or below your amplifier's rated minimum load.

• 4 Subwoofers - Various configurations available

Dual 2 Ohm Subwoofers

• 1 Subwoofer - Can be wired to 4 ohms or 1 ohm
• 2 Subwoofers - Standard balanced series/parallel wiring using all four 2-ohm coils gives 0.5 ohms (all parallel), 2 ohms (series/parallel), or 8 ohms (all series). Downloadable diagrams below cover all three loads. The 0.5-ohm diagram is for reference; do not operate below 1 ohm or below your amplifier's rated minimum load.

Dual 4 Ohm Subwoofers

• 1 Subwoofer - Can be wired to 8 ohms or 2 ohms
• 2 Subwoofers - Standard balanced series/parallel wiring using all four 4-ohm coils gives 1 ohm (all parallel), 4 ohms (series/parallel), or 16 ohms (all series). Downloadable diagrams below cover 1 and 4 ohms; a 16-ohm diagram is not available in this library. The diagram library is not exhaustive. Follow your amplifier's rated minimum load.
